Clever Rooms?

Clev will have what I call Clever Rooms. These Clever Rooms will have canvases and paints, computers with plenty of multimedia software, musical instruments, sound-proof rooms off to the side, and plenty of other goodies that are food for cleverness. Of course, it will also have a big window facing the sun and plenty of fresh air. However, I will have to think of some way to encourage the employees to seize the opportunity rather than think of it as an excuse for a break.

One way to get people excited about cleverness is to set the example myself. I would join them in the clever rooms and show them how dedicated I am to the idea. And I will produce something of merit such as a novel and actually publish it. I would use the publicity from the novel to prove to the world the benefits of having a Clever Room. I would give Clev a clever image that the employees will have to live up to.

When I've built some interest, I'll supply clever consultants to organizations that want a little cleverness in their inner-workings; to increase job satisfaction if nothing else. I'd have people researching cleverness in the workplace, and developing new methods to encourage it and wield it.

Our products will range from home/business applications like Idea to video games. We will push the envelope and raise the bar in everything we do.

Why Clev?

By now some of you know what Clev is short for: Clever. Why Clev/er? It rolls off the tongue. It sounds just right. And clever is the exact adjective to describe the organization I want to build and the products to come from it.

What do I mean by clever? Clever has no concrete definition. It can mean many things in many different contexts. But between all the facets of the word is a core idea. Something that is clever is creative but not loose. It is cohesive and woven tight. No frills, no bells and whistles, no distractions from the core. Everything has a purpose. The surface is so clear that it disappears and the observer falls right in. Cleverness is focused creativity.

These days, so much concentration is put into the idea generation process, which merely collects raw creative materials. Not enough attention is given to the refining of those ideas. The ideas must be kneeded, beaten, strained, and left to simmer a few times through before they are used. And new ideas must be grafted in with enough time to fuse or be rejected. Writers and few others understand this process, but the world as a whole does not. Ideas are not equal to the sum of their parts. They are worth only as much as the knot that binds them. And the tighter and more intricate the knot, the more effective and powerful will be the ideas that compose it.

This process, coined by me as idea development, is what Clev Idea will do.

Clev?

Hi. Clev is my business (anybody can have a business these days). I haven't sold anything yet, much less produced anything worth selling. Therefore, Clev is nonprofit at the moment. Thus, neither do I have employees. In fact, no one knows of Clev's existence but you and me.
Clev is a software company that I one day hope to bring to life. This blog is basically an outlet for my ideas for this company: what software I will create, how it will work, etc.
Clev Idea is Clev's first project. In fact, Idea came first. From Idea, Clev was born.
Who am I? That's for me to know and for you to mind your own business. The day you find Idea on the shelves of your local Best Buy will be the day I reveal myself. Until then, Clev and Clev Idea are my brainchildren and you are my brainbuddies that will help me along the way.
